Can I get an Ombre / Sombre with Hair Extensions?

Okay for starters, Ombre, Sombre, Balayage, what is with all these names? What's the difference? Well first difference would be within the application of the color process-how it's applied to the hair. Second difference would be in the lightness of the hair coloring.

Ombre - When the hair goes from a gradual dark to light with slight blended progression & no highlights.
Sombre- When the hair softly goes from a dark to light very 'gently' with some 'grown out natural' highlights within the color.
Balayage - When the hair color has been painted on the hair used a technique called 'free hand'. Balayage can also be used in combination with Sombre & Ombre.

I get a lot of phone calls asking if I can do an Ombre with hair extensions? The answer I give is 'Yes if your hair let's me.' This basically meaning - I don't know if your hair is going to allow me to color your hair. In the event it does then yes I can use extensions to give you an Ombre look. I will however HAVE to Ombre your current hair first in order for it to blend properly. This rule goes for Sombres too.

I had this client Gi come in and said she wanted a Sombre look done in her hair with Extensions. A mixture of warm & cool tones going into all cool tones was our goal. So to begin I gave her a full foil to brighten her up and then toned her hair with an 09B and clear at the sink for 15 minutes.

Her outcome was great! Took three hours but gave up the completed look we were going for.

You know a client loves her looks when you find a sexy selfie on Instagram the next day =] Xo

High Light / Low Light Hair Extensions

Can I Have A High Light & Low Light With Hair Extension?

Can I Have A High Light & Low Light With Hair Extension?

Hair Extensions In Rhode Island By Jaclynn Kate

Many times I receive email inquiries from woman who already have a highlight & low light in their hair. So their concern is that their hair isn't going to blend if they do one solid color of extensions. And they're right. If I were to just go in and do one solid color of hair extensions, their hair wouldn't blend properly. What I usually do if have them come into the salon for a complimentary consultation & I color match their hair colors & match it to our extensions.

It's that simple. Theirs NO need to order one solid color of hair extensions & THEN go back in & try to lighten them to the color of their highlights. Actually with our brand of extensions it is recommended that you DON'T highlights these extensions. They can & probably will break.
This is my client Teresea, & as you can see in the top left photo she already had some over grown highlights, but she wanted to keep them. So what we decided to do was match the highlighted color to the hair extension & put a lot of that color towards the bottom so it looks like an Ombre color.

Teresea put in 60 pieces to start & then came back for 20 more pieces to give her a more full look.  She likes to curl her hair a lot so these extensions work perfectly for her because they hold a curl for a long time!

In closing- if you are a stylist & are going to attempt to do a highlight lowlight extension. I'd suggest a little practise ahead of time so the client doesn't come out 'streaky'! Please email with any questions!! =]

Hair Extensions That Are Damaging By Jaclynn Kate

Hair Extensions That Are Damaging

Lets Talk About Bad Hair Extensions Vs. Good Hair Extensions

Lets Talk About Bad Hair Extensions Vs. Good Hair Extensions

Hair Extensions That Are Damaging By Jaclynn Kate

Their is so much stipulations about hair extensions. I hear in the salon all the time 'they're so bad for your hair' or 'they'll rip your hair out' or they'll help your hair grow'. Well let me set some of this mess straight. Yes, some hair extensions are damaging. Seriously though. You think melting glue into your hair is safe? Just because it has Keratin in the glue?! It's still glue! Just let that work GLUE sit in your head for a second.......not good.

Hair extensions ripping your hair out. That's one I head a lot. Okay everything needs maintenance & hair extensions  are A LOT of maintenance. They take extra time to wash, comb, dry, style, everything. So if you go into your head with a regular brush and put that brush RIGHT to your head WHERE the extensions are & BUSH your hair. Ummm .. yeah, I think you are going to rip one out. They're attached to only a few strands of your hair & you need to maintain them exactly how your stylist tells you too!

Hair Extensions will help your hair grow! LOl ... I wish this was true. So here's how it works. We go in and put rows of hair extensions in your hair. Now you see an image every day of yourself with long hair. And day after your actual hair IS growing you just don't notice it cause you see the extensions. So in all actuality it has NOTHING to do with the extensions. You just aren't noticing your hair growing normally. That's it. It has nothing to do with the extensions themselves. LOL I always did think that statement was quite funny. Like how do people really think that worked? Was the extension magical? lol....

Moving on. I thought I would share some images and some of my educated opinions on these bad hair extension pictures.
So I DID NOT DO THIS! I found this on Google and thought I would throw in my thoughts. This client is a prime candidate for hair extensions. In my opinion she didn't get enough hair extensions & they didn't put them up high enough for her to blend them properly. Never mind the face she could use a better color job to match the blonde hair extensions.

Oh yes the miss Britney. As you can see here she has a ring around the top part of her head. Yes that's her track. This type of extension is braided/sowed into your head. OUCH. the amount of weight put on your head & hair is awful! Talk about head aches! Also I'm not quite sure why her stylist did it so far to the top of her head but it's awful! It was going to be too obvious with a track that she has extensions!

So if you don't want your hair to look like this!! ^^

And you would rather look like this! Email me! This is actually me =] and I do these types of hair extensions which are micro beads, weekly in my salon! ALways happy to answer any questions so shoot me an email!!
